Episode 2: Decision making theories

This week's episode of Decision insights with Richard Hughes, CEO of the Ipswich Jets, looks at the concept of rationality and how it does not always reflect the realities of business decision making.
This episode focuses on two key decision making theories: rational (sometimes also called classical) and behavioural. We explore how rational decision making may be the ideal but does not always reflect the reality of business decision making. This reality means that decision makers often need to use intuition and gut instincts to make satisfactory rather than optimal decisions.

To discuss this topic we talk to Richard Hughes CEO of the Ipswich Jets Rugby League and Netball clubs. Richard has also lead fundraising teams of major not for profit organisations, is a founder of his own multi-award winning start up, and more recently, the CEO of the Children’s Tumour Foundation.
